mooch recordings kicks off with the imperial street ep from quenum, the man behind cadenza and a back catalogue of hits across labels crosstown rebels, orac, soma, trapez, to name but a few. his his legendary set back in july cemented his place in the mooch hall of fame and also put him on the radar for the first ever release on the label. quenums hypnotic, groovers on this ep are just right in building up the night, riding through peak time and out the other end down at the afterparty. on remix duties we have invited tim xavier to weave his tech magic and add his signature harder, darker sound to this killer ep.

the parameters of musical possibility are vast on valgeir sigurdssons third lp, architecture of loss. the music flows from no notes at all to lyrical, folk-like melody, from spare, acoustic sound to dense digital intervention. originally composed for the same titled ballet by stephen petronio. architecture of loss is a powerful work in its own right in which valgeir works from a broad palette of absences.

preceding a full length album on 4lux, ka§par showcases his amazing talents on this second ep for 4lux. the portuguese producer comes with some of the most interesting dance music around. got good love is a tough deep house groover that comes as both original and with a nicholas remix. cruising andromeda is a futuristic techno tune for forward thinking deejays. on hyphen kaspar slows down the pace and tosses in some 707 action: a crazy ride with rough synths and spaced out effects. ka§pars releases have become rare and sought after, releasing little more than one 12inch a year in the recent past when one listens to the result, it only proves how great things take their time.

ig cultures holy rollers label comes correct with two fiery, teched-out funky bombs from major notes. the >o beasity ep< is his debut on holy roller and one of the freshest funky 12 inches we have heard in 2012 - not watered down or some tepid attempt at house proper. >rokit< works out some killer tribalist polyrhythms and batty-squeezing bass pressure laced with shades-on synth beams on the a-side, up there with the likes of funkystepz or ill blu, while >o beasity< gets overlarge on the flip, wrangling martial snares, tribal calls and hard-bodied bass with the ruffest intent.

after 2 years of squabbling over who does the washing up and various teabag shortages in the kitchen, luke and milla decided to take their arguments into the studio. milla comes from an indie and scando-pop listening background with luke being a full on house and techno chin stroker. they love to experiment and record lots of different sounds for their compositions, be it 5 guys in the garden shed bashing bin lids together, screwing up plastic bags or sweeping the floor, if it makes a sound, it makes music. together they have created a spacey and melancholic two tracker abundant with love and emotion. >disappearing stars< comes with a matthew burton and kate rathod remix and the >its just us< remix has luke and matthew behind the wheel taking it down to china town.

after his soul tinged #1 single >tonight<, migs returns back to basics with >dance and clap<, a fun, deep and dubby track based jam with an underground edge, containing plenty of knob tweaked pads, subtle synth melodies, thundering bass grooves, and rhythmic vocal arrangements. one for the dance floor in mind and reminiscent of his earlier track based works, migs knocks out these little gems for salted.

right in time for luises third birthday, munichs incarnation of volt and watt, namely guenther lause, comes along with a very special present. the wakema ep is a three-track-voyage from the outer spaces of universe back to the very inner circuits of conscience. starting with ruka (a), an antsy techno piece, guenther seduces to enter his spaceship. soon after, hiding between space and time, loose your (b1) invites to take a bummel on planet ephraim located far outside where human awareness turns into a flock of silver bambis. finally, slowing-down wakema (b2) brings us ashore cheerfully.

the clue is in the title of the release from new rebellion signing enki. a double odyssey of spiraling trippy grooves, >tim burton abduction< is all spooky fx, organs and dense rolling percussion a superb slice of heady tripped out infectious techno that is going down a storm with the rebels crew this summer!

after some silence on credo due to the fact that alex was pretty busy with productions and numerous remixes for other labels, he kills it totally now with this outstanding twotracker. theory of noise delivers two unique technotracks and especially noise b shakes it down in sets all over with its remarkable groovepattern und heavy as well as warm bass structure. this is the adequate follow up on the black series of the label after the outstanding and regurarly repressed >dark summer nights< that came out two years go. alex in top-shape, grab it!

daniel stefanik is one of the techno and house newcomers of the last years. his carefreeness as a dj behind the decks and his likeable appearance are literally distinctive for a new generation of young, down-to-earth producers from germany, which are the result of the influence of väth, villalobos and hawtin on the one side, and solid but hedonistic house on the other. whereas many producers nowadays have dedicated themselves to only one musical direction, the influence of kerri chandler, chez damier or kevin saunderson is clearly noticeable in stefanik’s music. his longplay debut for cocoon recordings is a mirror of all these influences and yet it’s so up-to-date and contemporary like only few other techno and house albums today.

the story begins somewhere far away from awareness and rational thought. our main characters plays the roles of lost but not aimless arrows of pictures. pictures made out of sub atomic movements, amplified through breathable air and finally fragmenting its energy into space. we see the the sun go down in the ocean, the purple and red colors and finally the majestic sight of whales plowing the water in the horizon. it has been many years, in fact, so many years that we are now back again to the same point time. it is like an infinite loop, never loosing pace and determination.

sex tags mania warehouse find! this might not be one of those popular ware house finds you run into these days, but still, from a storage of a friend of a friend this got dug out. almost brand new but never sold in any amount - a german-french(?) 12 as great as the summer. straight to the b, you know that track you hear, not on any given sunday, but only the exeptionally good ones, the track that sonically floats around, though maybe being to euphoric, still gathers everybody in the area to some sort of silent agreement of peace. usually these musical pieces are found as single items on flee markets if you re a proper digger or have straight out beginners luck. maybe the world has turned up side down, because this beauty has german lyrics (with an instrumental following).

next up on crosstown rebels comes the second outing for british institution matthew bushwacka b under new guise just be. the annabelle release is a rumbling jungle of percussion, from moody and deep to down right stormy, these are high-octane cuts that deserve a cave rave soundsystem.

michael ozone, the character whos just dropped his debut offering for the esp institute this july, is back with a remixed version of his jungle-tuff >perfect systems ep<. on side a, steve summers (a name thats been up in your face over the last year, and one of the key figures in our cousins l.i.e.s. camp) has taken perfect systems for an imperfect ride, jacking it up as expected while keeping the somewhat sinister mood of the original. on the flip, young marco (who has become quite a resident at the esp institute) strips down hetrotopia to its core, letting you realize how a well-programmed track can maintain its melodic and hypnotic sense, even when all thats left is percussion.

sam kdcs follow up to his ground breaking previous symbol 12 inch has arrived, expanding on what he threw down on #3. 3 stunning tracks of elegant melodies and harmonious puddles of sound paint the picture. comes on grey / silver marbled vinyl.

italian based producer roberto clementi. a warm, analogue dub house feeling immediately rolls through his tracks with deep, techno orientated sub bass permeating layers or rich synth work and crisp evolving percussion. having previously released on ny based producer brendon moellers steadfast records, roberto continues down the path to sonic delight with 4 tracks forged in the underground.

rounding off the ep is ‘hackney’, a 4/4 jackin’ acid stomper, with a sound that is at the forefront of the current uk renaissance in stripped down, in-yer-face techno.

the name of the track is tiefblau and it speaks for itself: you are transported by a pushing, bass-generated pressure capsule down along a hypnotic groove line and into a deep blue ocean. the smalltown collective really exploit the merits of the acoustic stage here, pulling together a compelling and diverse set of notes and tones carefully arranged to amount to a track you just cant shake.
in his interpretation, dj le roi stays true and to the deepest blue dive atmosphere of tiefblau, yet manages to make it completely his own. unmistakably tieflblau, unmistakably le roi.
